Historic 7th March Day observed in Tokyo

Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo observed the Historic 7th March Day with due fervor and solemnity. On this occasion, a discussion meeting was organized at the embassy this morning (March 07, 2024, Thursday). At the beginning of the program the Embassy officials led by Ambassador Shahabuddin Ahmed laid floral wreaths on the portrait of Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Later Ambassador Shahabuddin Ahmed formally hoisted the National Flag with rendition of the National Anthem at the Embassy premises. A minute's silence was observed in the memory of Bangabandhu and the martyrs of August 15, 1975. Later, a special prayer was offered for the peace and forgiveness of the souls of the Father of the Nation and the martyred members of his family, and for the welfare of the country and the nation. Then the message given by the President and the Prime Minister on the Historic 7th March Day was read out.

During the discussion, Ambassador Shahabuddin Ahmad humbly recalled the contribution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the history of Bangalee’s struggle for freedom. He said that Bangladesh was born through the long movement and bloody liberation war led by the Father of the Nation. The historic speech delivered by Bangabandhu on 7th March was essentially the charter for freedom of the Bengali nation. Basically, through this speech, he declared the independence of Bangladesh in a sense. The ambassador emphasized Bangabandhu's treasured speech and the history of Bangabandhu's life and struggle to be presented to the new generation at home and abroad. He called upon all to work towards the implementation of Vision 2041 announced by the Prime Minister to build a developed, prosperous, and smart country by completing the unfinished work of Bangabandhu.

A documentary on the Historic 7th March was screened after the discussion.
